CARE Ministries, Inc.: What Does it Mean to Be
Saved?
The steps to salvation are clearly laid out in the Bible. It is by faith that you are saved. The following verses are a brief outline to salvation.
"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
Romans 3:23. We must first acknowledge that we are sinners and that we are
living at a level below that for which God has created us.
"The
wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord." Romans 6:23. A life of sin brings spiritual death both in this
life and in the life to come. But God has given us a wonderful gift in His Son
Jesus Christ that will cancel the debt and grant us eternal life.
"But
God commended His love towards us that while we were still sinners, Christ died
for us." Romans 5:8. While we were dead in our sins, Jesus Christ took
upon himself all our sins and died that we might not have to pay that penalty.
"For
God so loved the world, that he sent his only begotten son, that whosoever
believes in him might not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16. It
is by believing in the work of Jesus Christ that we receive the gift of eternal
life.
Prayer
of Faith: If you would like to ask Jesus Christ to change your life, simply ask
him to come into your heart, and be your Savior and Lord. That means that you
no longer willfully go your own way, but you will ask the Holy Spirit to be
your guide through life.
If
you make a mistake, or fall back into old habits, remember:
I John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will
forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
Ask the Lord to forgive you and commit your life to him today. You will never be sorry!
